This past week I attended the Forex Big Event, a 3 day webinar with some of the biggest names in Forex trading. If you have never had the opportunity to listen to real trader with a proven track record, then you are really missing out. But one of the biggest lessons of the event came about by identifying what ALL of the traders had in common.

You see, most new and intermediate traders spend a lot of time, energy and money looking for the right Forex trading system. And it is important to find the right system to fit your personality. But the just finding the right trading system won’t make you successful.
What does that mean?
EVERY successful trader on the event talked about trading psychology. EVERY one of them credited their success to having the mindset and psychological skills necessary to put their trading plan into action effectively. And since each of the traders were using a different trading system to extract profits from the Forex market… it is what they had in common that could make you a trading success.
Now, I know this is going to fall on deaf ears for most of you. You are going to continue looking for the magic trading system that works so well you never have to worry about things like fear or greed. But if you’ve been around the block a few times, or want to reduce the amount of time it takes to be a success… you should concentrate on traders psychology.

Don’t get me wrong, finding the right trading system for your personality is important. But it will be useless if you don’t have the trader’s mindset to put it into action effectively. Be honest with yourself… is your struggles because of the system you are using, or your inability to use the trading system effectively?
