Mechanical Forex Trading VS Expert Advisor

There are a lot of different ways to prosper by trading currency in the Forex market. But when you break it down, most tactics boil down to either placing the trades yourself according to predetermined rules (Mechanical Trading), or having a “robot” place the trades for you. Now, I’m not going to proclaim which method is best. That is for you to decide.

But there is something I’ve experienced recently while testing Forex Terminator that I think is worth mentioning. (If you’ve read other post on the blog about this Forex Trading System and Expert Advisor, you probably already know what I’m going to talk about).

Forex Terminator is both a mechanical trading system and an expert advisor. So, you have a choice… which is nice. You can read the charts and the indicators and place the trades yourself, or you can set up the Expert Advisor to do the trading for you.

And you would expect to get similar results, right?

But the truth is, I got very different results. I could not get the Expert Advisor to work at all. But I had very promising trades while placing the trades myself. You can see some of the results here.

So, why did this happen? Was the Expert Advisor programmed wrong? Am I some kind of trading genius? I think no on both counts.

I think the Expert Advisor is programmed to trade by following the same rules. But I think what happens is a human brings something to the trading that the computer program doesn’t have. Maybe this “something” keeps me out of losing trades. Maybe “it” helps me determine winning trades, or stay in a trade longer for more pips.

Honestly, I don’t know exactly WHY I make better trades following the Mechanical Trading rules of Forex Terminator… and I really don’t care. The point is, I want to make positive pips… period.

I just thought is was interesting. A lot of traders are looking for a robot to do the trading for them on autopilot. (Click here for the only one I’ve gotten to work consistently so far). But there are also a lot of traders that think a computer program can never replace a human.

With the experience I have with Forex Terminator, I’m starting to think there is something to placing your own trades. In any case, the fact that Forex Terminator has both options is a unique opportunity. You can test yourself against the robot option and see how you do. And if your results are anything like mine, you might just add a power pip getting system to your Forex trading arsenal.
