Forex Traders: Marketers Are Not Telling You The Truth

When the Forex bug bites you and you want to become a Forex trader, you do what the majority of people do. You search the Internet for the right Forex trading solution. And in my opinion, this is the right thing to do. But there is a big problem that happens due to Forex marketing which can keep you from ever being successful. In this short article, I’m going to show you how marketing tactics present an unrealistic view of successful trading, and expose the truth about what it really takes to succeed as a Forex trader.

I want you to know from the beginning I am a big fan of marketing. How else are we going to find what we are looking for when we search for solutions to our problems? But the difficulty happens when marketers try to show products and services in their best light, often misrepresenting the truth about trading Forex and creating a false view. Adopting this false view and believing it to be true can hinder your quest to be a successful trader, or even keep you from ever reaching your goals. Therefore, we need to separate the truth from the marketing hype.

Many Forex products and services want to appeal to the broadest market possible, so they say “there is no experience necessary”. But in my opinion, this is not the case. Experience is as necessary in Forex trading as in most activities requiring skill, maybe even more so. Without experience, you are not going to be able to find the right Forex trading answer for you personality, goals and trading style. Without experience, you are not going to be able to develop the skills vital to trade whatever system you are using successfully. So, the truth is, experience is definitely necessary!

Nobody wants to work hard, so the marketers tell you “trading Forex profitably is easy”. I would argue that learning Forex is SIMPLE, but not easy. To learn a successful trading system takes relatively little time to mastering the system under live market conditions. It is the experience you need to gain by trading that is hard. This is one of the reasons people get stuck jumping from one system to the next. The learning of the new system is EASY compared to the time and effort put in to mastering the system, so they would rather just learn and learn and learn. The truth is, trading Forex is simple, but being a consistently profitable trader takes effort.

Marketers often say, “it is not your fault” to all the people who have “tried” to trade Forex and failed. They want to get on your side by stating you have no fault in your failure and that it was the brokers, gurus and ironically enough, the shady marketers that are to blame. However, in my experience, you are responsible for your success, which makes you responsible for you failure as well. You are the one that needs to learn a profitable Forex system, and then practice it so you can trade it perfectly under live market conditions. The truth is, you probably didn’t do enough to master ANY of the systems you’ve “tried” to trade, and therefore it IS your fault you have not succeeded yet.

With all that being said, the good news is trading Forex is definitely something you can do. But it is important to know the truth about the process of becoming a profitable trader. If you believe the marketers, you will have a false understanding of what it takes to become a profitable trader. Then when you find out it is harder than they said, you jump to something else where the marketer makes the promises you want to hear. Truth be told, you can trade Forex profitably if you are willing to accept your responsibility in your success and put in the necessary effort.
